National Pack Your Lunch Day: 6 Creative Ideas For Brown Bagging It

You know how we love our National Days here at Thirty On Tap! Today is National Pack Your Lunch Day, and to celebrate, we’ve rounded up some of the most creative ideas we could find for when you have to bring a lunch to school / work / etc. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut of pre-packaged soups or salads, or going out to buy meals. When what’s easiest becomes a habit, we often find ourselves feeling like anything different would be too much effort.

We’re not sure about you guys, but we love having a delicious lunch to look forward to. Sometimes the work days can be so grueling that looking ahead to a yummy meal can get us through the morning.

Here are six awesome recipes from the glorious interwebs that prove that a packed lunch doesn’t have to be boring at all.

1. Green Goddess Sandwich

Hello, beautiful. Anything with avocado in it makes us happy! Recipe and photo via Bojon Gourmet.

2. Chickpea and Veggie Brown Rice Bowl

Bowls are the greatest make-ahead meal because you can stash them in pretty much any sized tupperware, and they are so easy to reheat. Recipe and photo via The Every Girl.

3. “Summertime Lunch Box”

Lunchboxes are not just for kids anymore. So many stores (like Target, TJMaxx, and Marshall’s) are selling adorable lunch boxes for adults with compartmentalized sections for different snacks and meal components. Packing your lunch this way allows you to bring all sorts of different foods – a bonus if you have trouble making decisions! Recipe and photo via Be A Fun Mum.

4. Burrito Bowl

When you’re craving Chipotle but your wallet doesn’t agree, this is the perfect compromise. Just make sure to keep your avocado with the pit still inside it or sprinkle lemon/lime juice on it so it doesn’t brown!  Recipe and photo via Beneficial Bento.

5. Southwestern Fajita Salad (In A Mason Jar)

Mason jar salads are totally trendy right now, but beyond looking super hip, they are actually pretty convenient. Make sure to put your dressing and non-soggy ingredients towards the bottom, and put your most delicate ingredients on the top. Voila! Recipe and photo via MJ And Hungry Man.

6. Lasagna In A Jar

Speaking of meals in jars, this recipe for lasagna in a jar has our mouths watering like whoa. Who knew that something this delicious actually existed? Recipe and photo via The Food In My Beard.
