It could be argued that we may never feel the age that we actually are. Although we’re rounding the third-decade milestone, there are days we still feel sixteen. Hell, there are days we still feel six. It’s entirely possible that one day, we’ll be in our retirement homes, still feeling like it was just yesterday that we were crushing on Rider Strong and Justin Timberlake. Wasn’t it?
With that, no matter how old you get, no matter how old society says you are, no matter if you’re in the 30-35 or 60+ checkbox – you’re only as old as you feel. You’re only as old as you say you are.
So, regardless of your age, here are 15 things you are never, ever too old for:
Don’t ever feel bad about throwing it back to your childhood by digging deep in the realm of the “kids” category on Netflix. We certainly don’t.
2. Eating – and loving – sugary cereal.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Lucky Charms? Fruit Loops? All worthy of indulgences.
3. Shopping where you want to shop.
Idk about the rest of you, but I’ll be shopping at Forever 21 through menopause.
4. Having a solo dance party – at any time of day.
The new Justin Bieber came on the radio while doing laundry on a Sunday at 2pm? Duh, dance party time.
5. Going to Disney World.
Even adults can get into the idea of hugging strangers who wear furry character costumes. It’s cool.
6. Wanting to buy stuffed animals.
You can be a grown woman buying the stuffed koala at the toy store. You can.
7. Playing video games.
Just going to leave this link here **cough** old school Game Boy games **cough**
8. Playing board games.
Candy Land? Battleship? Monopoly? (Only if I get to be the Top Hat!)
9. Just playing outside.
You don’t need to be a little kid to be able to appreciate the fun of swinging on a swingset or just being outside.
10. Laughing at fart jokes.
Farts are funny. Just ask 12-year-old boys.
11. Reading books from the YA section.
Or, the YA section of your bookshelf from your childhood bedroom.
12. Dressing up for Halloween.
Themed costumes. Family costumes. Couple costumes. Solo costumes. IT DOESN’T MATTER. If you want to dress up, do it.
13. Doing crazy things with your hair, if that’s your jam.
There’s no rulebook that says you can’t do what you want with your hair after a certain age. If you’re worrying “am I too old for…?” just stop right there and embrace the hair dye.
14. A car that speaks to your personality.
Eff that whole “mid-life crisis” car stereotype. (Or quarter-life crisis.) If your vehicular spirit animal is a zippy sports car, by all means, sign those papers.
15. Dressing the way that your inner diva wants.
You do you. Always do you.
