Do Your Thing

Do Your Thing

By De and Kate

Here at 3OT, we love advice articles, video tutorials, step-by-step guides, and details on what’s hot and what’s not. They’re time savers broadening our worldview. And in acknowledging that we’re far from experts on everything, we’re especially thankful to the pros who are for keeping us in the know.

That being said, the amount of input and recommendation we receive on a daily basis can feel exhausting at times. Our lives are surrounded by conflicting, though often good natured, opinions on how, what, when, and where to do, think, believe, and behave.

Should we toss the bread out – gluten be gone! – or should we eat a sandwich already? It’s bathing suit season! We should look our best, right? Or should we love our bodies the way they already are?

Of course, we should get enough sleep. And work out in the morning. After which, we should apply our makeup, but only so much that it looks like we’re not wearing any. The same goes for self-tanner.

At work, we should follow our passion, abiding that it pays the bills. And of course, we should create and maintain that 9-to-5 and home life balance. In said balance time, taking some exotic vacations, now, or else, when will we?

Just like that, the noises of the world around us become loud. Almost deafening.

Perhaps what we should do is forget the things we should or shouldn’t be doing.

We’re hardly proposing that we disregard our health or well-being, or that we become completely aloof or dismissive of the advice of others. Rather, we believe that healthy living has a range and it’s hardly a one-size-fits-all type of topic.

Trends and fads are what they are because they are hot one minute, and cold the next. It’s easy to feel pressured to jump on board with what society, the media, or your aunt says you should do – but the truth is, you don’t have to.

When it comes to living life, there simply are no rules. There are expectations, but at the end of the day, there’s no one keeping score, no one marking your progress.

So, with that in mind…just do you. Forget what you think you should do and strive to do what you want.

Do your thing. And don’t worry if no one else is doing that same thing.
