There are some lovely ladies both in the real world and the world of Hollywood who are older and date younger men, thus being dubbed a cougar. It can be seen as an achievement of course because she’s able to land a guy who is half her age who is handsome. I mean, I can admit that it makes me slightly jealous because the cougars are stealing some of the men who are my age!

But at the same time, it isn’t that upsetting and I must give them props because I could never date a man younger than myself (unless it was only by a year or two). I admit I have high expectations. Most younger than myself can’t meet those expectations.

So here’s why I’ll only date someone older than me:

1. They are usually more put together.

And this is in regards to both their life and career. They’ve had the time to figure it out and get the ball rolling so you don’t have to worry about them flip flopping between what they want and what they’re doing.

2. They’re usually okay with staying in.

They are past the point of having to go out clubbing to prove that they can have a good time. There’s more to life than just going to the club; instead, there’s travel and festivals and adventure out there!

3. They’re living in the real world.

They have more experience with the real world, meaning they aren’t just thinking about a funny meme or a YouTube video they just watched. Perhaps they’ve traveled or worked in places that are totally different and new, so they have a good perspective of where they are and where they want to go.

4. They’re thinking long term rather than short term.

They know what they want, so it isn’t likely that they are going to waste time and play games. Instead they will focus more about what can happen in the future and hopefully that includes you.

5. They know when to be serious and when to be silly.

There’s a time and place for everything and someone older tends to be aware of that and more in tune with what reaction you need.
