Self-Care Is An Inside Job

Nowadays, “self-care” is as ubiquitous as gym selfies and Instagram-worthy slices of avocado toast.

That is to say, self-care is everywhere.

As the wife of a licensed professional counselor and as somebody who lives with my own mental health issues, I believe that practicing self-care is a critical component to living a well-balanced life.

Can I Tell You A Secret

Can I tell you a secret?

Sometimes I feel like a fraud.

I feel like a fraud because I struggle with the very same topics I write about. Things like faith and self-acceptance and confidence and loving the shit out of your own life – I struggle with those things – a lot.

And I feel hypocritical sometimes because – who am I to be talking about these things when I don’t even have a handle on them myself? Who am I to be dishing out advice?
