Let’s Chat: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Season 2 Finale

Perhaps, if you haven’t yet watched any of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend it’s because you’ve been put off by the name of the show, assuming, like I initially did, that it would mess of tired female clichés and a shrewish main character with no basis in reality.

But I couldn’t have been more wrong. Well, except for the last part.

Rebecca Bunch, played by the amazing Rachel Bloom, has a hard time staying strictly in reality, but it’s her fantastical music numbers that she uses to process her world that make the show so damn entertaining. It’s a show that’s self-aware, even calling out the term “crazy ex-girlfriend” as being a sexist term, and using “crazy” in general as being pejorative. Continue reading

This week we truly do return to the well-loved style of storytelling from Season 1, learning that even a re-telling that we’ve become familiar with may not be the whole story.

Regina is still perplexed about how the Evil Queen is still walking around, enacting nefarious plots when crushing her heart should have killed her. Since Hyde seems to know a little bit about everything, and is also the evil half of a separated character, she hopes to visit his underground prison cell and threaten him? Nope.
