10 Cocktails To Spice Up Your Thanksgiving Dinner

By Catherine Miele

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year because of family time but also because of the food. Glorious, decadent, seasonal food and absolutely no judgment from dinner guests for partaking in seconds or even thirds.

Despite my love for the main event, Turkey Day is not really about the turkey for me—it’s about the sides. And the drinks!

These 10 seasonal cocktails evoke all things festive and autumnal and must be a part of your Thanksgiving feast.  Whether you’re pumpkin-obsessed, beholden to bourbon, or deeply affectionate toward apples, there is something boozy and delicious for all of you. Continue reading

7 Recipes For A Vegan Holiday Feast

7 Recipes For A Vegan Holiday Feast.jpg

By Katie Lemons

Being a vegan can be hard, especially when living in a small town in the South. Lack of convenience is one of the biggest drawbacks. I can’t just go to a drive-thru and grab a vegan-friendly (albeit unhealthy) lunch and the selection of vegan/vegetarian foods at our local grocery stores is downright laughable.

The holidays are another time when being a vegan is challenging. Family members are confused about why you won’t eat these delicious mashed potatoes they spent so long making, drowning in butter and cheese. “You can eat this. It doesn’t have any meat.” Continue reading

By Kate Kole

I’d only made it through a third of the documentary, What The Health, last month before making up my mind. I was ready to make the transition from vegetarian to vegan. Or should I say, 90% vegan, because an all-or-nothing mindset and ultra-strict lifestyle has rarely worked for me.

I rummaged through our cupboards and fridge, taking stock of what we had on hand that would work within my new plan, and which items I’d need to say sayōnara to – like beloved mac & cheese (goodbye my love)! Continue reading

6 Fun Ways To Get Through the Winter Slump

winter

By Mary Yeotsas Van de Graaf

It is now the end of February and although we are almost over the hump (daylight savings is just around the corner!), it feels like winter in the northeast can just DRAG. ON. FOREVER. The sparkly promise of a fresh new year has lost its luster. New Year’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside – my daily exercise goal has dwindled to barely once a week (I blame the cold). My attempt at curating stylish winter work-outfits has devolved into reaching for my warmest black pants and a lumpy wool sweater while I rub my eyes awake. Who can prioritize chicness when New York City is in a rotating state of slush, snow, and biting cold? Continue reading
