The Lazy Woman’s Guide To Home Décor

By Clare Bristow

I have a confession to make: I’m not enthusiastic about decorating.

I appreciate a well-decorated house as much as the next person, and I’ll happily spend time flicking through magazines and Instagram admiring people’s stylish rooms. But I just don’t feel the need to spend hours trawling home stores or tackling fiddly projects involving paint and glue guns. Not my idea of a fun leisure activity, thank you very much. Let’s face it, one of the greatest things about fall is the clothes. If it weren’t for all the cute fall fashion, it might as well just stay summer forever. There’s just something about wearing over-the-knee-boots with skinny jeans and a big blanket scarf (while obviously holding a Pumpkin Spice Latte and stepping on crunchy leaves. Right? Right.) In honor of fall finally arriving, here are five pairs of boots that you’ll be lusting over in no time. Continue reading

I Stopped Washing My Hair, And I’m Obsessed

I have thick hair. Not even regular thick hair. But like, “I shaved half of my entire head and I still have a full head of hair” hair. I am fully Italian – bred from beasts, and my hair has always been a problem for me and others. Once, I smacked my head on a pole and felt nothing because my bun was so thick it saved me. Hairdressers love to pull a big fistful of my hair in their hands and tell me how much I have. Continue reading

I was always hesitant about spray tans. I had images of orange stripes and was convinced that if I tried it, I’d emerge looking like a neon zebra. Perhaps this was from portrayals of spray tans in sitcoms (I hope you’re also picturing that Friends episode), or maybe it was my own experience with attempting to apply sunless tanner while in high school. However, I’m happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised.  Continue reading

Lipstick (and, let’s face it, makeup in general) can sometimes become a bit of a habit. It’s part of so many of our morning routines. We apply our light nude matte before going out to work, or dab a pale gloss after lunch. While day makeup is essential (for some), it’s not always the most exciting. Sometimes you just need a ~*fun*~ lip color. Luckily, dark lips are allllll the rage this season.  Continue reading

Don’t Judge Me For Wearing Makeup

As a kid it was easy to be comfortable in my own skin because it didn’t matter what I looked like. Other kids would still play with me whether my hair was brushed or in a tangled mess. Adults weren’t concerned with my appearance because as a child, it’s expected that you’ll play around and have fun, and in the process, get a bit dirty or look a bit wild. Nothing wrong there. However, as I grew up I learned that it wasn’t acceptable to look like I’d been playing outside and having the time of my life. Rather, I was supposed to look put together at all times, no matter what I had just been doing. Continue reading

alex-grodkiewicz-lu9DJI7FKD8-unsplash.jpg

Traditional rules of seasonal fashion will tell you that black is a winter color, and summertime calls for white. But as most fashionistas know – rules are meant to be broken. In fact, summertime is a great time to wear the darkest hue imaginable – yes, even from head to toe.
